It was amazing what our Pompeii tour guide managed to teach us in 2 hours but it was much too short for such a large site. I would skip the Sorrento aspect (if you're travelling in Winter) as it was very quiet and would recommend you to do a full day at Pompeii instead.
It flowed nicely from the time we got into the bus till we got back to Rome..The day was beautiful and the guides were so knowledgeable and got everyone all gathered up with minimal fuss. John was great and the guide in Pompeii was the best. Thank you again for a great time. My family loved it.
Heather was amazing and so was our bus driver. We couldn't have asked for a better group to be with for this trip. Will do again!
Very kind guides ! They told us everything we need to know about the trip and also for the town I would definitely do it again !
Had a great experience with Enrica, she was lovely, had a lot of history to share throughout the bus ride and always made us laugh. She ensured we were on time to make the most of our tour.
We had a great time on the Pompei-Positano tour. Very well organised, many thanks to our guide Mari and our driver Giulio! It was a wonderful experience and we can highly recommend it.
Amazing staff, from the driver Danilo to our tour guide Laura always giving us important information about every location and always checking if we were enjoying the tour. Our pompeii tour guide Antonio was awesome, really knowledgeble and explained on a very clear way.
The route was scenic The bus guide was pleasant but not adequately knowledgeable. Talked a lot about mundane things like food and different types of restaurants but not enough about the historical values of the spots
Our guide was Enrica, and our driver Danilo. Amazing guide with an excellent knowledge and enthousiasm from the start until the dropoff. Great sense of humor, and a personal touch made this trip unforgettable. Big thanks tho Enrica for the great memories!! Greetings from the belgian couple.
We had an incredible day trip with our two children (6 & 8 yrs old). The Amalfi Coast was breathtaking, with a beautiful whistle stop in Sorrento and an enriching tour in Pompei, which the kids enjoyed as much as the adults. A highlight of the tour was our knowledgeable and engaging tour guide, Antonino from City Wonders; a week later and we're still talking about the stories he shared with us! Julio our bus driver was also great and went out of his way to entertain the kids! We highly recommend doing this tour.
Fantastic experience in Pompeii and Sorrento. Our tour guide Heather, driver Francesco, and the guide at Pompeii Antonio were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Great recommendations on how to spend free time in Sorrento. Pompeii was a lot bigger than we were expecting - the tour was wonderful but you do miss out on quite a few areas simply due to having limited time.
Our guide was Marinela and our driver was Danilo! They were the persons who gave life to our amazing experience in Positano-Amalfi Coast and Pompeii! Both were amazing! Danilo is a great singer :)) and Marinela is such a great teller! Both of them with their specific hospitality guided us through our journey so specific so that we won't miss out a thing! Their energy was fulfilling and the care and safety were top level! Thank you so much and wish you all the best! Ramona&Valeriu I
Bus driver and guides were excellent throughout. We started off in Rome and made our way along the Amalfi Coast towards Sorrento, with a couple of stops on the way for some Limoncello and chocolate tasting while the driver has a break. We had lunch in this beautiful resturaunt in Sorrento overlooking the sea. The only issue I had with this trip is that a couple of travellers on the tour were 30 mins late in coming back to the bus meeting point after lunch, therefore we lost 30 mins in Pompeii, which only gave us 1 hour in Pompeii and it was very rushed as you need more time than an hour to fully experience Pompeii. It's a shame that other travellers can ruin the experience for everyone else by not paying attention to the meet up times states by the guide but it is what it is.
The scenery was amazing, sad the beach was full and closed and we were not able to see it closely. We know that we can fix it but the Italians were rude and not nice at all, they treat bad the tourists like we are the worse.
Everything was great. And the best thing happened to our group was having Marinela (hope I wrote her name correctly) for our guide! Many thanks for her knowledge, kindness and patience.
Edwardo was an excellent tour guide. He shared a wealth of information and insight. The total experience was amazing and fun. The bus and the driver were both excellent. Very nice and worth the trip. Thank you.
The stops were great. Free time in Sorrento was great. The guide in Pompeii was excellent. So knowledgeable, had lots of stories, showed us a few key points rather than running us through. The main issue, that made the day quite uncomfortable, is that there was no bathroom on the bus. The total trip was 13 hours, 4 was spent at Pompeii and Sorrento (including limoncello stop), and about 1 hour for bathroom stops. That is still 8 hours in a bus with no bathroom. I would not recommend this tour for that reason alone.
Laura was an excellent guide. She was very helpful, had the best tips, taught us about the history of the didferent places we passed by and also showed us some local songs. The tour guide at Pompeii was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable. I highly recommend joining this daytrip. It was also interesting to visit the limoncello factory on that day. I would just recommend people to do some research before Sorrento, so that you know what to do during your free time.
The places visited and the local guide in Pompeii, very clear and friendly in their treatment. Not like the tour guide, we knew it was in English language that we understand, but we do not speak fluently, the guide Maria Helena, did not try by any means to understand or understand what we needed, another person on the tour spoke 3 languages and she understood us as well as the English speaking passengers, but the guide did not, she had no will for that. At the same time, on the return trip we had a delay of more than 1 hr, because the guide did not give us the schedule and the pick up point, 6 passengers had to take a cab to the bus.

Barbara was exceptionally great very informative about Italian life and food. Antonio was very good and professional It was a great experience
Barbara was amazing super friendly, gave us so much info and kept us engaged. Even taught us some Italian. Antonio our driver was also great and got us to all our destinations safely even though Italy traffic is CRAZY to say the least lol definitely recommend to everyone
We really loved both locations. We would have liked more time at Pompeii and Sorrento. We would have preferred to skip the Limoncello factory, that seemed like a waste of time. Our guide was awesome and we loved her! She was full of great information. I would have preferred to leave an hour or two earlier int he morning to get more time at the locations.
Great selected places to see, full program with very helpful explanations by our tour guide. Whole day trip in comfortable bus&polite driver, with enough breaks for refreshment.
Despite the initial dissapointment of expecting to visit Positano; which was not part of the day trip, it was a day to remember. Peter the guide is very knowledgable, funny, courteius and did a great job of time management. The local guide in Pompei, Claudio, was also excellent. I highly recomnend this daytrip.
Fascinating Pompei. The guide Antonino was excellent and i would like to thank him for everythink. Good luck until the next time. Jasin

Plenty of time to explore the site... We hadn't booked lunch or an audioguide, but it was flexible and we could add those extras on the day. Our guide was so friendly and helpful. We loved it!
First of all, thank you for this day. Even though it's over 600km from Rome, it was worth every effort. Seeing Pompeii is a highlight. Superbly preserved, you get a wonderful insight into Roman life. Via Appia Antica is an orphan compared to the roads here. The paintings are also very well preserved. The funniest thing we found was the 90 fast food stations for local residents. At first we were worried that we would only see a small corner in the two hours. But our local guide had a great route and we were able to see a lot. Vesuvius was much more stressful afterwards. You are chased up the mountain on a full stomach and have to be back down at a certain time. I can say one thing. We're not the least fit, but it was close. We were two minutes late. One criticism in passing. The restaurant for the toilet break is outrageously overpriced. From time to time the trip feels like a coffee run. But let's put that to one side, you can decide against it and not buy anything. The day was great and we would book it again and again.

Very attentive guide. Enrico was charismatic and spoke Spanish easily. The company was on time and the bus was comfortable. The guide in Pompeii was also attentive and very informative.

Very nice and knowledgeable guide Francesca, she was very helpful and everything went according to the plan. Pompeii are an absolute must see, a little too far from Rome but still manageable
Everything was exceptional - tour leader, tour guide, driver, lunch, but I was really disapointed in only panoramic tour of Naples because that wasn't mentioned. I asumed it would be at least a short walk through the city, as it was stated on the website that we can 'enjoy shops and restaurants'.
I want to thank the guide Marcelo, an excellent treatment and the driver Emiliano, as well as the rest of the team, a great professionalism of all of them. The organization was perfect, very happy. Next year my parents will go and they will do the excursion with you. A big hug and thank you very much for everything.

I thought Pompeii was good and I would have liked to have had longer. It felt like we'd just touched on the story and didn't get to see any tombs apart from one. Also I thought we were going to walk up Vesuvius from the bottom to top not be driven up there to walk the last 20 minutes. Also we had to wait for our guide to translate into Spanish at each section because we had a couple who were Spanish whilst the rest of us were English. I'm sure we would have seen a lot more had this not been the case.
Incredible experience visiting Pompeii, we had a decent amount of time to explore the ruins on our own as we didn't have the guided tour. The guide (Marcus) who took us from Rome to Pompeii and back was very friendly, talkative and knowledgable, on the journey to Pompeii telling us about the history of the area and places we were going past. At our brief stop off in Naples he came over to me and chatted about Vesuvius and the surrounding area pointing things out to me.
This Pompii & Mount Vesuvius tour started dot on time. All along our guide Laura was awsome. She was exprienced guide very friendly and professional. She took care of each passenger on board. The driver Dan was also lovely. The tour was organised well with frequent toilet breaks and covered all what was in the itinerary.
We booked Rome to Pompei and Vesuvio experience for the family of five. Everything went as scheduled. Our coordinator during the trip mentioned several interesting facts about Rome. In Pompei we had our own guide, same while climbing Vesuvio. BTW, our bus stopped by the shortest path to the top which was very convinient. I sincerely recommend this experience!
Our guide was great. He was young and excited and his English was very good. Manuelo (?) was ideal to represent your company to a foreigner. It was a very full itinerary and the included lunch was delicious and FILLING!
The Vesúvio tour was really good, and the guide was attentive. The Pompeii tour itself was good, but the guide was not a really good English speaker (we could understand the major part, but sometimes it was not possible to understand her). Eduardo - the general guide - was really sweet with us!
Marco was a very entertaining and helpful guide. Was more interested in getting into the Pompeii tour than being shown the shell carving but was interesting all the same.
Everything went well and according to plan. Our Leader Guide was very friendly and thoughtful, always wanting to know if everything was alright with everyone - there was a older lady in our group that had issues dealing with the heat and tiredness, he made sure that everything went smoothly, both for that lady and for the rest of the group (safety and time management wise). He gave us very interesting information regarding relevant key points of the tour during our bus ride. At our stop at the marvellous and enormous ancient city of Pompey, we were accompanied by a lovely local Guide, who was very informative as well as very funny. After the visit to Pompey we went to lunch to a designated restaurant, the food was ok, nothing special but included. The drinks were not included as advertised, however the big glass bottle of water that we asked for came already opened and by its awful taste it was clearly water that it as been refilled and was probably store under the sun in a plastic container. Moreover the drinks were clearly overpriced. We stop drinking it and requested a new plastic bottle which was sealed. For the Vesuvius visit, we changed quickly and smoothly to a smaller and comfortable panoramic bus with a clear rooftop (provided shade). During the ride up to the Volcano with listen to an Audio Guide provided in 8 languages. After climbing 1000m up the mountain by bus, we got of the bus and made a brief hike with another local guide. He was very nice and informative, however had some trouble speaking in English - although it was more or less easy to understand. Our final stop before returning to Rome was a very quick visit to a Coral/Camos jewelry workshop/factory/store were they make pieces of jewellery with metal such as gold and silver combined with seashells - very pretty and especially expensive. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Jonathan our guide was amazing, thank you for be a amazing guidances, he explains everything very clear and we don't have any problems. I recommend 100 %.
Pompeii, a must. Our guides, Cristina and the local one, were magnificent, efficient, very kind, patient; 10 out of 10. The Vesuvius experience was a little short because, although it did not consist of going up to the crater, the explanations of the local guide left much to be desired. Still, it is well worth it to go up in the windowless bus with a driver as attentive as the one we had.

What I liked most about the head out ticket experience was the ease in which the transaction happened. It was very easy.
Literally loved it!!! The guide was so lovely, lunch was exquisite and everyone was very accomodating and kind. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone travelling!
On the trip to the Colosseum the guide was very helpful, in pompells the guide was more helpful in English than in Spanish, the guide at the Vatican was very helpful although he did not speak Spanish well.

The bus was comfortable and made it easy to get from Rome to Pompeii for a long day trip. Our guide was informative. We chose the no tour option once we reached Pompeii as we prefer to explore on our own. That worked really nicely for us.
It was a small group, Cristina was a wonderful host, guides were welcoming, food at the restaurant was good, drinks and stuff (everywhere not only at the stops) are expensive, Pompeii and Vesuvius sites were ok, perhaps the publicity of the places created "over-expectations". Anyway is a place one should see in a lifetime and Green Line Tours showed it to us very lively. Thank you.
Our guide Eduardo was very nice and very helpful. Our guide in Pompeii, on the other hand, was very unfriendly. We did the tour with 3 small children. Our guide lady made an extremely annoyed impression and got us through quite quickly. In contrast, our guide Umberto, who took us on a short tour of Vesuvius, was very understanding and kind to our children. In general, everything went smoothly, but we had expected more from the tour. All in all, it was ok. If we hadn't been the only ones and hadn't wanted a private tour, the €140 per person would have been too much.

Our guide Eduardo was very helpful and friendly. The bus driver drove very safely. However, we ran out of time and didn't make it all the way up Mount Vesuvius. That was really disappointing.

What I booked was not what I was expecting as I thought it was a guided tour of Pompeii but the bus guide upgraded our tickets to include lunch and the guided tours of Napoli and Pompeii. So glad we paid the extra for this otherwise we would not have seen as much of Pompeii as we did. Raphael was very knowledgeable and kept us on task to get the most out of our experience.
Very enjoyable tour, well organized and full of explanations and historical references. Francesca is a great hostess and it was fantastic to hear the history of Pompeii thanks to Sasha.

l dunno how this got rated as awesome. The trip was good but it could have been better. The tour guide Semih was amazing and kept it fun, but we hardly got to spend anytime in either of the island. Would have been better off to just go to one island and spend some quality time there, rather than hurrying and visiting two. Would not recommend this tour for that reason.
The tour guide was very nice and the location was also very beautiful. However, I would have liked more information about the itinerary in advance.

Depending on where your day trip destination is, prices can vary from €85 all the way up to €299. You can expect to pay more if your experience includes a guide, food tasting, etc.
You can expect to board your AC coach/train from Rome (check your ticket as some experiences offer hotel pick ups), an expert driver who might sometimes also be your local guide, an exploration of the local delights of the destination, a potential meal and even some time to do your own exploration. At the end of the day, you will be dropped back at Rome. Do check your ticket thoroughly to understand what you can get out of a day trip.
From Rome, you can easily visit neighboring cities like Naples, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii and Herculaneum.
That depends on how many stops are part of your day trip. If it’s more than 2 stops, you can expect to spend at least 2 hours in each area. If it’s two or less stops, you can spend between 4 and 6-6.5 hours in each location.
Yes. For example, if you’re booking the Pompeii and Herculaneum Guided Tour by High-Speed Train from Rome, you will take a high-speed train from Rome to Naples. From Naples, there will be transfers to Pompeii and Herculaneum that’s included in the ticket price. Don’t worry, travel hassle-free!
Yes, once you reach a stop you are allotted enough time to explore on your own, grab a bite, or click pictures.
Besides your ticket, you might want to set aside some money for the experiences you will likely indulge in on your day trip. These typically include:
Meals: If you’re dining at a much-hyped tourist destination like Amalfi Coast, expect to set aside at least €30-35 for a two course meal. In comparison, Naples is cheaper, with the average price ranging from €15 to 25 per meal. Note that these costs vary depending on the type of restaurant you go to — a gourmet experience will naturally be on the higher side.
Shopping: While this is entirely dependent on your preferences and purchasing power, it’s recommended to keep aside at least €40-50 to buy keepsakes like limoncello, and an additional €30-40 if you want to purchase, say, handmade sandals from Sorrento.
As these destinations are typically warm, wear comfortable and airy clothing in cotton and linen. For the style-conscious, it’s a great idea to sport sun dresses and skirts while visiting the coastal towns of Amalfi and Positano. If you’re visiting Herculaneum and Pompeii, wear sturdy shoes as these sites require quite a bit of walking.
Definitely! It’s a good idea to give children some context on the places they’re about to visit, so they can appreciate their visit better. Maps, interactive books, etc. on Pompeii and Herculaneum, for example, can pique their curiosity and encourage them to engage with the guide, etc. Carry snacks and light refreshments as the journey can take 2-3 hours depending on the destination. Once you arrive also, you might not be able to eat immediately. Note that Pompeii and Herculaneum are not stroller-friendly, so replace the wheels with a baby carrier.
