Our guide was very knowledgeable and handled all questions well. She obviously knows her subject matter well and is genuinely enthusiastic about it. It was amazing to see the Colisseum in real life after seeing it depicted in so many movies and shows.

Our guide was an archeologist so was fascinating and well informed. Veing to ask questions as well as listening to facts was awesome.

Our tour guide was amazing. She knew so much about the history of the Vatican. She was also very considerate of us, she made sure she stopped at many stops with shade when we were outside. I took this tour during the summer, and breaks with shade were essential.

Our tour guide, whose name I wrote down and now lost, was extrordianry! He was an archiologist who had worked at a dig site there years ago. Older. Grey hair. He was so informative, funny, and attentive.

The guide was well versed on the history of all the sites we saw and was happy to answer any questions we had. He allowed us time to take photos and also had visual aids to help when explaining the history of the sites.

I would definitely recommend a guided tour, although this meant we quickly went though a couple of areas we would have liked to have viewed for longer, it was more than made up for by the knowledge of our guide and the big reduction in queuing time.

Having a guide is essential to getting through the crowds and seeing the places you most want to see.

Elle, our guide, took her time with us and ensured we could see and hear despite the crowds. She was excellent! She used humor, stories, and history to teach us about the Vatican museum contents, the Sistine Chapel, and even just before we entered St. Peter's.

Vincenzo made sure we knew exactly where we were going, clearly told us what we needed to do at each step, and what to notice. We knew we were well taken care of, and in very capable hands.

Very at keeping the group together and giving over the information considering how busy it was. She did a very good job.

Seeing the different parts of the Colisseum gave us a complete picture of the famility and how it worked. Much better in 3-D and in person.

Being on the arena floor gave a great perspective of the Colluseum and good views of the underground area.

What a place. Your imagination runs riot. Would love to come back for a tour right underground where the animals were kept.

Accessing the arena floor is a must and worth doing. Not sure worth doing the underground areas as costs more, but not sure needed (didn't do it).

The Colosseum's Arena was stunning ��. It was slightly crowded but still acceptable. I didn't get the chance to visit the underground, as the ticket was extremely difficult to purchase.

It was a much more in-depth visit than our last vis 10 years ago so was great to get a more knowledgable being-the-scenes view. As mentioned before, the archeologist tour guide made the trip worthwhile for us.

Look into tours of the sites you want to visit to make sure that you experience everything you can. Guided tours are well worth the cost since they provide a smooth, coordinated visit along with a knowledgeable person who can answers questions.

Anyone of the older generation should perhaps give it a miss but this would be a major shame as like us we are very fit for our ages. Maybe give the tour an extra half hour, then no rush would be necessary.

We were the first tour in the morning meeting at 8:15 before it was too crowded. I'd heartily recommend. We visited in December so dress up warm lots of shady places that can be chilly.

Arrive with enough time, don't expect to be able to go to the gift shop in the Colosseum as there isn't enough time in the tour!

Rome is a walkable city so don't waste your money on a Rome bus card, you can just pay with your phone when you actually use public transport. Every sight is at 20 min walk away from one another so bring your most comfortable shoes. Be ware of pickpockets when waiting in line for something

Wear very good walking shoes. Wear or bring a hat and sunglasses. We brought snacks and water flasks to stay hydrated and mangage protien/glucose intake throughout the day. The website said 1.5 hours to 3 hours. It was a 7 hour day and 0ver 15,000 steps! We loved every minute but I imagine it could be hard on those not in as good as physical shape or with mobility difficulties.

Most buses will drop you outside the Colosseum, but please check before travelling out.... Good pair of Boots, Plenty of water and lightweight bag for your I.D. (you will need it to get in).

If you're not in walking distance as we were, use the Metro, we used it for a later trip and it was so easy to use and navigate. Be prepared for the crowds and noise, it can be a little overwhelming if you don't really like that, but it does calm down once inside.

We were tempted by the glass lift in the Vittoriano and spent ages finding it only to find you can buy a ticket just for the lift. You have to buy a ticket for the museum as well. I wish now that we had spent more time in the Forum but nothing you see in Rome is wasted. We will just have to visit again!

Tour takes 2.5-3 hours. Go with a guide as the experience and knowledge gained is worth the fee and more. Also get access to the arena floor and upper floor as well as. Tour of the forum. Just amazing. There is quite a bit of walking and stair climbing (lift available).

I would say to make sure you have some water on you and and put lots of sun cream on as the location depending on what time of day it is. It gets very hot and lots of walking involved.

Try not to carry too many stuff with you, as most of the attractions are very crowded. Arrive at the meeting point/ attractions 20- 30 mins ahead even though you have the admission tickets in hand, as you still have to line up to get into the place.

We walked from our accommodation near historical city centre. Buses are close but will need a bus pass.

Buy your ticket online to skip the queues. Maybe choose a time when the Vatican Museums aren't as busy. We went at 3pm and there were so many people there. Get to your meeting point in plenty of time and use their bathroom before going on the tour. Ask your guide to show you the door into St Peter's at the end of the tour. You can spend plenty of time there. We actually happened on a Mass under the Dome at 6pm, beautiful music, very special.

The Roman Forum and Colosseum were both busy but it was a Friday afternoon so I guess to be expected. The purchasing of the tickets in advance proved to be a wise decision as there were a few queues which we didn't have to join.

Don't get anything to eat near Colosseum- it's all overpriced garbage except for Flor- Gelato. Phenomenal gelato for only 3 euro. Recommend the Marscapone and Fig. Maria was a great tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and truly passionate about her subject matter.

Arrive earlier than suggested as there were crowds of other tour customers and it wasn't clear who we were supposed to check-in with. Be sure to bring some photo ID with you. You will not be allowed in otherwise. Bring a bottle of water. The tour is long and you can refill your bottle at the many fountains along the way. Go to the toilet beforehand. The queue for them inside were about 35 minutes!

Check the weather and dress appropriately. Don't worry if you forget hats or water - the meeting point is a hot spot for traders. Comfortable shoes -you are on you feet for 3 hours. Several flights of steep stone stairs but don't let this put you off, a lift is available.

Book Lumi ....best guide evere ...so funny , but so knowledgable and bought history of area to life , made it relatable and we learnt such a lot . Loved tour and Lumi made it . Bring a coat Wear comfortable shoes Bring some water .

The main pro of a guided tour is that you are able to skip the long lines but a con is that the experience is not self paced. You will have to be with your guide all the time. Our guide was quite knowledgeable but the whole tour was quited rushed.

Follow directions and try to arrive a couple of minutes before the time expected. There was construction going on and a lot of tourist so moving around can take time

Pay attention to the stops you have to make when using the bus, subway and trains. Give yourself enough time in case you get lost and charge your phone, you could bring a portable battery pack in case.

We went around mid-day when it was warm, I would either go early morning or later in the day when it was cooler. Easy to find the meeting point, would recommend a tour as you get so much detail of the history of Rom and the Colesseum from this.

We stayed within a KM of the Colloseum, made be walk to the location prior to the tour to understand where you need to be. Give your self time as your trying to follow Google Maps on a phone can lead you in circles.

Morning tours are better, lots of people are always there. When finish vatican, we got out just on the front of the St Peter Basilica. No que, all good to go in.

Walking around ancient historic sites is never easy, if anyone has any kind of mild diability, and many visitors are not youthful, so a good descriptor of the tour would be good.

Was some construction and renovations going on and some roads were closed or diverted so check road conditions first. It also rained extremely hard during our visit even though it wasn't supposed to so be prepared for adverse weather events which can affect the tour.

The meeting place wasn't easy to find! Most people want the Sistine Chapel, I would start with that!

When we were in Rome we encountered a city bus transit strike. Found out 24 hours in advance and a kind front desk person at the coliseum hotel gave us detailed walking instructions to Vatican city. Even though you may not encounter the same situation, just give yourself enough time for minor delays.

Research top art pieces ahead of time because you move through so many pieces fast you might miss great and important works

If travelling from Rome on a day trip ensure that you leave enough time to get from Naples to Pompeii. You may have to wait a while for your bus or train and you need to factor this in. We had a guided tour which lasted for 2 hours and while that was a tour of the major sites it was still only about half of Pompeii so you may want to leave additional time to get food and see the rest of Pompeii. I think that the tour was very worthwhile because it provided a lot of information that you may not gain on your own.

Arrive early. Be prepared for crowds and to see more than you thought. We loved our tour guide she was amazing and connected with everyone in the group including my 19 year old daughter. Wonderful!

By booking the tour guide it gives you an advantage as there are different entrances for tour's. Natalina was an excellent guide, her knowledge of all the Roman history is awesome and very very informative, please do the guided tours, walking round without a tour guide is a no no unless you know your Roman history.

Bring a copy of your passport - photo is acceptable but must have it or it will hold up the tour. A meeting spot by a coffee shop that includes a coffee would be a great start to the tour.

I planed only one visit per day, in the morning...because it's too hot in the afternoon (in the summer) and after lunch we would rest to regain strenght for the evening walk trough the streets of Rome.

Arrive in Vatican City early. It's crazy there. Eat prior to arrival. Dress cool enough to handle the heat while still covering shoulders, knees, chest and back. It's hot inside! Practice patience as there is a lot going on and many people.

Definitely book a tour. You miss all the queuing and have a lot more fun and it's so informative. Decide if you want to do the St Peter's done tour before paying for it. You have to pay extra - not much - but there were I think 550 steps or 300 if you paid for the elevator part way.

It's hot in August. Bring water, hat at least til you get inside. My phone overheated and wouldn't take pictures for a while. Plan to want to come back early the next day to spend more time in museum and gardens. Check The Pope's schedule to see if you can get reservation free for audience.

Definitely book either the official site tour(though Parco Archeologico del colosseo or the same tour through Headout before you arrive. Check which entrance you need to go to ( they are different for each your) unless you are going on a tour through Atlas tours where you meet near the arch.

We left early and were lucky we did. We didn't know the public transportation. didn't run on Sunday. Fortunately our Airbnb was close enough that we made it on time, but it took us an hour to get there.

If you are able to, request Analise as your tour guide. She was phenomenal. Make sure you have a bottle as they are many fountains to fill up your bottle. Using a Vespa to get around makes things easy and there is lots of free parking.

Make sure you bring lots to drink and maybe a fan, as there is no air conditioning in most parts of the museum.

We were on a tour of italy. We had the forum tour earlier in the day, but it did not incude the Colisseum. The Headout tour was money well spent.

We did a short walk to the "Wedding Cake" building and had lunch in Trastevere, which is 20 mins away from the Collosseum

We did the Gladiator experience at the Coloseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum. It was awesome to be able to see the Circus Maximus and antique rose garden from our viet.

We should have stayed longer in the Forum after our guide had finished but we had other things planned.

Don't expect any useful information or help from the idiotic chat app, you might as well just grab a random stranger off the road and ask them. Useless.

We also did a colosseum & palatine hill tour on the same day. It was a lot of information to take in in one day, and a lot of walking (we tallied 23000 steps!).

At the designated location as mentioned in the ticket. Gloria was excellent, well informed and diplomatic. She was verbally attacked by a customer whose ticket was in error.

Near a red safety pillar. What is a red safety piller??? And information said they would be wearing red shirt/jacket, no red in sight. But we still managed to meet up with Max. He was GREAT!!

Not much else, as we devoted our day to getting there and back to our accommodation. We had lunch in Borgo Pio near the Vatican and we had a lovely dinner in RomAntica on Via Emanuelle later that night.

Go to the Jewish Ghetto. No crowds and amazing cafes and restaurants. Spend time taking in the ancient ruins but also look down and pause at doorways where you'll see the bronze plaques with names of the Jewish residents taken by the Nazi.

Went to the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna and had a bite at a restaurant were they tried to scam us

The tour included the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Do all three the history and ruins are staggering.

We walked out of the palace area , over to the city . We walked to the Spanish steps had gelato. And enjoyed the beautiful day.

We walked back through Jewish quarter, had late lunch there , saw Apollo columns, Marcellos theatre ...so much history at every turn . Looked in Pantheon , lots of churches which were all so beautiful, had dinner out, saw Trevi Fountain at night bought a gelato on way back to hotel . Slept well !

We covered the Roman Forum and then went onto the Pantheon, but had not booked this and too big a queue.

We visited all three attractions and then spent time in Saint peters Square having lunch, which was very nice.

We had lunch nearby, since I was already familiar with the area, so it was easy to find a convenient restaurant. We then took a taxi to Piazza Navona for a visit to that area.

The guide Sarah was brilliant very knowledgeable and a great sense of humour kept the tour energy going throughout

After the Colosseum trip we explored teh other places ... Colosseum, Palatine Hill & Roman Forum - actually needs 4-5 hrs

Colloseum, palatine hill and Roman forum. We also Had access to the Colloseum floor area so you can experience walking out into the arena and getting a feel for what it would have been like for the gladiators and appreciate the scale of the Colloseum.

We walked 20 minutes to the site from our hotel and after completing the tour leisurely explored other sites on our way back. Over a glass of prosecco back at our hotel we decided on a restaurant to eat dinner at. A perfect day in Rome.

We walked to the colosseum which took about 45 minutes but was an easy flat walk and got to see Rome city as well.

We saw various other monuments outside of Vatican on our walk to meet a tour guide. Luciana was our tour guide for the day, she did an amazing job of commentating everything step we took the sistine's chapel, Vatican Museum,and basilica. Her altitude for effortless recall of facts was astounding. This was the best experience I had ever had on a guided tour.

We didn't do too much else as the tour was quite long, but most enjoyable, we went to Morrissons bar for vino and food after the 45minute walk home.

Got a full tour of the Roman Forum and Colosseum by our guide Kiara. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. Her explanations were detailed and captivating. Definately recommend a tour with her if anyone plans to go.

Walked around Rome just stopping in places as we came across them. Great trip and saw lots of beautiful places and things.

We only did this tour in the day time, but stayed longer to walk around the Colosseum and museum. After dinner we went to Gregory's Jazz Club.

Following the visit the tour guide gave us a really good tip for a restaurant where we went for lunch. The food and service were outstanding.

We only did the Vatican , Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica. It is such a beautiful monument and takes time to appreciate and absorb it.

Day 1 - Vatican tour and sistine chapel. Followed by Castel Sant'Angelo queue skip. Day 2 - saw the Trevi fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona on the way to our Colosseum and Palatine hills tour before chilling at the pool at our resort.

We grabbed lunch at Mariuccia after, visited the Pantheon (didn't feel we needed a tour for that), took a little break, then saw The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain

We bought , write and posted cards from the Vatican and ate at a cafe before leaving to browse shops on our way back

Spent more time in the Roman Forum after the tour finished. Spent time in a cafe and wandering around the old town area.

The various parts of the Colosseum was visited with the history and culture being described.There are lots of other buildings such as churches, ruins, garden, palaces entrance arches. Marble columns of different colours brought back from different parts of the world.A very interesting tour and definitely worth having a tour guide.

We arrived at 11 am from our cruise, checked in to our hotel across from the Colosseum and toured the Colosseum, time to shower and have a quick snack then off by taxi to The Vatican City to tour the museum and the Sistine Chapel. Taxied back to the hotel for a nice dinner then got ready for our early am trip to the airport. It was a rushed day but we managed to get in the two most important sites that everyone wanted to see. My suggestion would be to spend two days if you have the extra time after a cruise. Ricardo our tour guide was so passionate about giving us all of the history. We accomplished the 2 1/2 hour tour easily, at 2pm to avoid the peak heat hours, as well as a self-guided explore of the Basilica, a few hours downtime in our hotel, and a 3 hour meal/drink in the evening. We opted for a more relaxing day.

We also went to see the Pantheon but this does not need a tour guide. We went to buy an ice cream from a Fatamorgana gelato shoo.

We took our Vespa over to Travestere to explore and have lunch. We also went to a rooftop restaurant called the Roof for dinner.

"Sapppori e delizie" for pizza,pasta and suppli..then for a tiramisu in "two sizes" near piazza Ancona.

Found somewhere in a back street on our way back to near the Pantheon. All food was great on our visit.

We went to a restaurant bear the colloseum, aprox 10 min away, and ate paste carbonara+pasta Bolognese+pizza

After a long day in The Colosseum (walking), we decided to take a bus back to our hotel for a very welcomed beer.

We went to the Terrace restaurant on the corner of thr Capitoline Museum. Really nice, make sure you get the menu you want e.g. sandwiches or full meal. Beautiful views from the terrace.

Just opposite the entrance is a little cafe and tourist information centre. We had a little snack (Nutella crepe and coke) which was lovely and ok price wise. Toilet waste a euro and had a queue (didn't use)

And are visiting the colosseum. We visited a lovely restaurant across from the colosseum. Angelino "ai Fori" Amazing and customer service.

No - we didn't frequent any of the local eateries - we have a picnic lunch that we brought with us in the Roman forum under a tree.

It's an amazing monument,thinking all its history beside the architectural side that is unbelievable for the time it was built..our guide,Lumi(hope that's the right spelling) was excellent with lot of knowledge and very kind.Willing to explain anything you wanted!

It was a very good tour and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. She was occasionally a litle hard to hear/understand, although some of that was due to the size of the group. The beginning of the tour was a little disorganized, but I think that may have been due to understaffing. it took a while for the group to get organized. A general announcement about how we were being organized would have been helpful. The tour itself was exellent, and our guide was very well informed. It was amazing to see the Colisseum up close. It was worth it to skip the lines, and to move through the process with someone who was familiar with the process. I would recommend the tour to others.

The tour guide seemed to know a lot. Only down was she practically made us run up Palatine hill to get to the toilets before they shut. My husband was 80 on the day and I am 65.

Fantastic guide, Fransesco, so much knowledge told in an interesting way. Also of course the attraktion itself.

The tour was great and the guide knowledgeble. It woudl have been awesome if we had started the tour at the first site and saved a lot of extra walking up and down hill. Half the group was older and could have used the fewer steps.

We took a guided tour around the colloseum, Palatine Hill and Roman forum and we were very pleased with it. Our tour guide, Lumi, was very knowledgeable, very sweet, knew when to throw in a bit of sarcasm, when and how to make a connection with the old and new world and when to just say the story. There were kids in the group and she was mindful about them too. At the end she recommended us a few places to eat and visit. We ended up with a great experience and we're glad we took it.

The guide made all the difference, showing us pictures from the past and how things used to be. It wouldn’t have been the same experience without a guide.

Hearing about the history and experiencing a look at events that took place so very long ago. Our guide, Julia, was very knowledgeable and pleasant and we enjoyed our time with her.

All was well organized and out guide Barbara was very good prepared and experienced. There were some technical problems with audio quality in my guide receiver. Also so called access to the Arena of Colloseum was disappointing since in fact it can be seen exactly the same as from the other places with the lower price ticket.

We purchased our tickets online weeks ahead and it was so easy. Our guide was extrordinary. He was an older man and an archiologist who had been worked at a dig site there at the Roamn Forum years earlier. I wrote his mane down and now I can't find it. He was the most incredibly informative and fun guide. Our experience was fantastic!!! I would highly recomend this to everyone. I think we logged about 15,000 steps over 6 hours for the Colisseum/Palatine Hill/Roamn Forum. So amazing. Bring your camera, good walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, and water bottle & snacks to keep you energized!

Everything went great. The location where the tour started was correct. The guides are friendly, professional and put a lot of effort into bringing us closer to the period of creation of Rome and Roman civilization. Big thanks our guide Silvia - grat job.

The venue was absolutly brilliant and breathtaking... So much to see and the Guide we had was just superb (very knowledgeable).. Please be warned, if you are going to venture out on this epic day trip, Please take plenty of water, a good pair of walking boots and take a lightweight bag (as there's security check points all over the site). WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

Our tour was booked for 8:45am and when we arrived it had been moved to 10am. We never received any communication that the tour had been moved before we arrived. The tour itself was amazing. Highly recommend

On 2nd November we did the Colluseum Arena Tour, with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill included. It was awesome a fantastic experience. Our tour group wasn't too big and ear phones ensured we were able to hear everything from our very knowledgeable tour guide. There was a a little queuing along with other guided tours, but nothing too much, especially not compared to those who we viewing it all independently. The information from our guide and the amazing sites made it a very memorable occasion. I had also expressed my concern about possibly arriving late due to a change in tour time and our arrival time in Rome, but Brent and Alina kept me up to date and checked on our whereabouts to ensure we were going to get to them in time.

Our tour guide informed us about every single detail. We even exceeded our time, but everybody enjoyed the tour a lot.

Paolo was extremely knowledgeable and engaging and really brought the ancient world to life. His passion for ancient (and modern!) Rome was clear, and he was exceptionally good at engaging with the children on the tour.

This tour was very well organised form start to finish and no queuing whatsoever. Irene was a fantastic guide and made the whole experience very enjoyable. Well done fro Mario!

This wa by far the best tour I have ever taken. Our guide Alesandro- was abosutely phenomenal. With him being an archeologist that physically worked on exploring those sites made his commentary unforgettable. 10/10 experiences!!

The tour guide Marta was very comprehensive, if we didn't understand something, she explained it in 2-3 languages. She also answered questions outside the tour, I would get more tickets with her if there were other tours Thank You Marta

Silvia is awsamo guide with a deep historical knowledge. She shares passion with us and made me to dig more info about that era.... that's something to be proud of ;)

The details sent to us prior to the tour were very clear and helped us to find the meeting spot. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. It was an extremely busy day at the Colosseum but we managed to avoid most of the queues thanks to being on a tour. Without booking a tour, I feel we would have spent many hours in various queues (tickets, security, entry) and not had a clue about what we were looking at. We would definitely recommend.

We like everything: the prime information about the tour, the colliseum, Palatine hill and Roman Forum. Our guide Julia was amazing - she was very kind, sincere and skilled. As she said, we really remembered her when tried Italian pizza, saw the pigeons and talked about this amazing experience!

This tour was amazing, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave excellent information. I went for the underground tour as I wanted to know more about the workings of the colosseum - this was definitely worth the extra money to explore how the events would have worked. The forum and the palatine hill were spectacular and seeing the panoramic views over Rome were well worth it.

The guided tour of the colosseum and Forum was expensive but worth every penny and more. Our guide Emi was fantastic. Learnt so much about history and how the colosseum was built that you would never find out without a guide. We were given headsets with a single earpiece so could hear every word of our guide super clealy even if you were 10+ meters away from him. A must do tour!
